Letter: TPZ chair Baratz asks for support

My name is Seth Baratz, and I am running for re-election to the Fairfield Town Plan & Zoning Commission. I have served on the TPZ for the past 10 years and have been elected chairman or vice chairman for the past seven years.
I have thoroughly appreciated the opportunity to serve our community and sought this office because I care deeply about our town, its history, neighborhoods and character. The TPZ must continue to guide our town through responsible development, while always keeping the public's health, welfare and safety foremost in our minds.
As chairman of the TPZ, I have sought to ensure that all of our meetings and public hearings are conducted in an atmosphere of civility and mutual respect. There are no partisan politics on our commission. Members may have differing views on matters that come before us, but those differences should never prevent them from acting in a respectful manner. This is true of the commissioners, the applicants that come before us and the members of the public that may attend and speak at our meetings. I have been privileged to work with an outstanding group of fellow commissioners, all of whom bring their own valuable insights to our deliberations and decisions. I would be honored to have the opportunity to serve again on the TPZ and to continue to guide our town's development in a way that preserves Fairfield's history and beauty, but which also allows us to grow as a community.
