Lights, camera, action despite rain: Douglas & Keaton film in Southport
A rainy Thursday morning found a section of Harbor Road, from Main Street to Rose Hill Road, blocked off to traffic, and the film crew trying to wave off anyone who stopped to take photographs. The shoot was taking place in front Fingelly Real Estate, 251 Main St., across the street from the Pequot Yacht Club.
The crew has also been filming scenes in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport.
Directed by Rob Reiner, the romantic comedy tells the story of an ego-centric man (played by Douglas) whose life is turned upside-down when he's introduced to the granddaughter he didn't know he had," according to the IMDB website. Keaton plays his neighbor.
Keaton is no stranger to the region: She was in Greenwich two years ago to film, "The Big Wedding" alongside Robert Deniro, New Canaan natives Katherine Heigl and Topher Grace, Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams.
Douglas, who last starred in "Behind the Candelabra," a film about the life of pianist Liberace, recently raised eyebrows when he suggested that his throat cancer may have been caused by oral sex.
