Mary Butler-Sibley, Esq., 63, of Fairfield, wife of John J. Sibley, died Feb. 26, 2010, in her home, with her family by her side.
She was the mother of John Sibley, Maeve Ewing and Myles Sibley; daughter of Mary B. Butler; sister of Gerard Butler and his wife, Mary Jane, and Claire Yearwood and her husband, Ralph; sister-in-law to Maryann Butler.
She was predeceased by her father, Edward, and her brother, Donald.
Born and raised in New York City, she moved to Fairfield in 1976. She was a graduate of Mount St. Ursula Academy in the Bronx, N.Y., Marymount Manhattan College and Fordham Law School, where she was a member of the Law Review and received awards in constitutional law and administrative law. She was admitted to the bar in Connecticut and New York.
A devout Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Parish and participated in various charities, including Operation Hope.
Calling hours took place March 1 in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield. Her funeral Mass was celebrated March 1 in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Fairfieldl; interment was private.
