Man attacked in dispute over vandalism
A Milford man allegedly broke into a Longview Avenue home and threw a coffee table at a guest Tuesday, an attack police said was prompted by a dispute over vandalism to his car.
Leon Galemba, 27, of 36 Crescent Drive, was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
Galemba broke through the home's screen door, police said, and then attacked the homeowner and his guest. Galemba threw a coffee table at the guest, cutting the man's finger, police said.
Police said that Galemba's friendship with the homeowner had deteriorated over the past year and that he believed the guest had vandalized his car about six months ago. When Galemba heard the guest was in town, he wanted to beat him up, police said.
Police listed the screen door's damage at $50 and the coffee table's damage at $200.
Galemba was released on $250 bond and is scheduled to appear June 1 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
