A Trumbull man who police said didn't appear in Bridgeport Superior Court to answer a charge of driving under the influence from last May was charged last Friday night with second-degree failure to appear in court.
Police said an employee at Operation Hope, a homeless shelter and soup kitchen on Nichols Street, reported a suspected drunken driver on May 1. Joseph S. Nosal, 69, of Grey Neck Road, Trumbull, was pulled over a short time later after failing to stop at a stop sign by Sherman Street and Sherman Court, police said. He failed field sobriety tests at the time and was arrested, police said.
Last Friday, Nosal was arrested at the West Haven Veterans Administration Hospital on a charge of second-degree failure to appear in court. He was held in lieu of $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Jan. 7, police said.
