A 40-year-old Fairfield motorist, who drove off Bronson Road, into a yard and hit a house after leaving Interstate 95 early Thursday, was charged with driving under the influence, police said.
Frank Dupignac, of Smedley Road, was also charged with failure to drive right.
After he drove off southbound Exit 20, police said he crossed Bronson Road and then struck the front porch of a Bronson Road house about 1:37 a.m. Thursday.
Dupignac, who was found in the driver's seat of the car, told officers he swerved to avoid a deer, police said. He refused medical treatment.
Dupignac was charged after failing field sobriety tests, police said.
He was released on $100 bond and was scheduled to appear Dec. 10 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
