Man charged with drug use in Gould Manor Park

Police were called to the park by a friend of Smith's, who thought he had overdosed on heroin. When police got there, Smith was breathing and responsive. He allegedly told police he had snorted heroin and did not need medical attention. Several empty heroin folds were nearby, according to the report. There were children at the park at the time of the incident.
Smith was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, and police applied for a warrant for his arrest. On Nov. 28, Smith's father called police, according to the report, to let them know Smith was home and they could come serve the warrant. However, police said when officers arrived at the home Smith was under the influence, according to the report, and once again was sent to the hospital.
Smith was charged with risky of injury to a minor, possession of narcotics and possession near a school. He was held on a $1,000 bond and arraigned that day.
