A Brookview Avenue man has been charged with eavesdropping, after police said he was taping his wife's telephone calls to other people without her knowledge.

David Platow, 53, was released on a $1,000 bond and appeared Thursday in Bridgeport Superior Court.

Platow's wife told police that she became suspicious when her husband had knowledge of information that she had not given him, and that she had been hearing static on the phone line for a few months. She also said there was an extra wire running from the phone to the basement.

Police had been called to the couple's home in May on a domestic violence call during which both husband and wife were arrested, police Sgt. Sue Lussier said.
