A local man faces several charges, including assault and threatening, after police said he punched a 14-year-old boy and threatened him Wednesday.

Major F. Ward, 43, of Biro Street, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree threatening, risk of injury to a minor and breach of peace. According to the report, Ward confronted the juvenile, a friend of his child, near Halley Avenue just before 6 p.m., punching him and threatening to "whip his (expletive) every time he sees him."

He was held on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Feb. 19 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
