Man charged with shoplifting $250 worth of condoms
A 33-year-old man was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly stealing condoms valued at more than $250 from a local CVS store.
Michael Webster of Laurel Avenue in Bridgeport, was charged with sixth-degree larceny. According to the report, Webster went into the CVS on Grasmere Avenue wearing a backpack. He left without buying anything, but returned a short time later and asked to the use the bathroom.
The CVS clerk became suspicious and asked him to empty his backpack. He did, according to police, and the clerk discovered nine boxes of magnum condoms, worth a total of $255.
Webster, who police said has a record of 57 arrests over the last several years, was held on a $1,000 bond and was scheduled to have been arraigned Monday at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
