Man charged with stealing wallets from office

A Waterbury man was charged on a warrant at state Superior Court in Bridgeport last Friday with theft at a local business last fall.

Dean Henton, 58, was charged on a warrant with second-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny and illegal use of credit cards.

According to police, Henton went into the office of an Unquowa Road fitness center last Sept. 8 and took two wallets from an office desk. He was later seen on surveillance video using one of the stolen debit cards at Walmart in Stratford. Henton was arrested last Sept. 27 by Westport police for allegedly stealing credit cards and debit cards from staff at the Connecticut Humane Society and using them at Walgreen's, Subway and Cumberland Farms to purchase $721 worth of gift cards.

According to police, Henton has a history of arrests for assault, robbery and burglary.

Bond was set at $5,000 and he was arraigned later the same day.
