A Bridgeport man attending a child's birthday party at the Fairfield Motor Inn on Monday night was arrested after police learned there was an active protective order issued against him regarding his girlfriend and her daughter, who were both there.

According to police, someone called to report about 10 unsupervised children running around at the hotel and that the only adult appeared to be intoxicated. When officers arrived, they found the group had rented two rooms for a child's birthday party, but did not find anyone who was intoxicated.

Police did discover, however, that Jose Rodriguez, 43, of Red Oak Road in Bridgeport, was in violation of a non-expiring protective order.

His bond was set at $1,000 for a Friday appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court.
