FAIRFIELD — A 31-year-old man, rescued from beneath his SUV by bystanders and first responders after it flipped over last November, has been charged with reckless driving.

James B. Davis, of Brooklawn Parkway, turned himself in on a warrant Monday and was scheduled to be arraigned at state Superior Court later that day.

According to the report, Davis was driving at a high rate of speed on the wrong side of Brooklawn Avenue about 7:12 p.m. Nov. 20 when his SUV hit another car and flipped onto its side. It slid for about 200 feet before coming to a stop, and witnesses, police and firefighters lifted the vehicle in order to remove Davis from the wreck.

He and the other driver were treated at local hospitals for minor injuries, according to the report.
