Norwalk resident David Mott, 30, was charged with breach of peace Friday after an altercation with his girlfriend at the Heritage Square shopping center, 1700 Post Road.

Mott did not want his girlfriend to use his car, according to police, and decided to remove the license plates. However, as he was taking off the plates, the girlfriend got in the vehicle and began to drive off. He allegedly threw pliers at one of the windows and then jumped on the car as it headed into the intersection of Post Road and Ruane Street.

A witness called police and reported that Mott appeared to have a knife. However, police said it was a pair of pliers.

Mott was scheduled to appear Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
