Man nabbed on outstanding assault warrant
FAIRFIELD — A 23-year-old man was charged on a warrant for an assault last July when police spotted him walking on the Post Road around 1 a.m. Thursday.
Troy J. Gosbin, of Orland Street in Milford, was charged with third-degree assault on a victim 60 or older and disorderly conduct.
A patrol officer saw a man, later identified as Gosbin, walking on the Post Road near Thorpe Street. He was stumbling, police said, and the officer stopped to check on him. According to the report, Gosbin said he had been bar hopping in Westport and was walking to the train station.
When Gosbin’s name was checked, police said they learned there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest. According to the report, someone found a birth certificate and other personal items belonging to Gosbin on Sawyer Road last summer and turned the items over to police. A DMV check showed Gosbin was living at a Sawyer Road address at that time, and they went to the house.
When officers arrived there, they found the 60-year-old homeowner with a cut on his arm. He said he suffered the cut trying to break up a fight between Gosbin, who had lived there for five years, and the homeowner’s sons, according to the report.
Gosbin had left the house at that point, according to the report, and police applied for an arrest warrant.
Bond was set at $10,000 bond and he was scheduled to appear at state Superior Court in Bridgeport later that day.
