A Fairfield man and Monroe woman were each charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct last Friday night after they got into a fight in a car parked in the driveway of the man's home.

Ernie A. Ursini, 52, of Jennings Road, and Kathleen Hellrigel, 52, of East Maiden Lane, were each released on a promise to have appeared Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.

Hellrigel called police to report that Ursini, her boyfriend, had choked her, while Ursini told officers that Hellrigel refused to leave the car and attacked him. Ursini said she scratched him and that he pushed her away, police said.

Police said Ursini and Hellrigel gave conflicting statements but both had minor physical injuries. The incident happened about 9:32 p.m., police said.
