Martin F. Armstrong Jr., 88, a former resident of Fairfield, died May 30 at the home of his son, Paul L. Armstrong in Palermo, Maine.

Born Oct. 27, 1922, in Savannah, Ga., he was the son of the late Martin F. Armstrong Sr. and Henrietta O'Connell Armstrong.

He spent most of his life in the greater New York/Connecticut area. He married the late April Oursler on July 19, 1948, at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. He later was married to Inez Betancourt and his last wife was the late Pat (Mary) Low.

He was a lawyer who served one term as a state representative from Stamford.

In addition to his son, he is survived by six other children, Martin F. Armstrong III of Bridgeport; Michael A. Armstrong and his wife, Nina, of Plano, Texas; Catherine G. King of College Station, Texas; Fulton T. Armstrong and his wife, Beth, of Arlington, Va.; C. Kevin Armstrong of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Clare E. Armstrong-Seward and her husband, Chuck, of Smyrna, N.Y. He is also survived by several granddaughters and great-granddaughters.

In addition to his parents, his first wife and mother of his children, and his third wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Henry (Hank) Armstrong, and a sister, Mary Armstrong.

A Mass will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, N.Y.
