Matilda T. (Tillie) Faulkner, 103, a former Fairfield resident, died Nov. 30, 2010, in Wilmington, Del.

Born in 1907 in Nashville, Tenn., she was the daughter of Matilda Ambrose and Joseph Ormsby Treanor. She was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Vanderbilt University. In 1931, she married Hugh Kenneth Faulkner, which lasted 66 years until his death age of 92. His employment with DuPont and Remington Arms necessitated many moves, the longest being in Fairfield, before retiring to "Watermark at 3030" in Bridgeport.

In the community, she taught Sunday school, was president of PTA groups, participated and was a member of Girl Scout Councils and the boards of Goodwill Industries and Family Services Woodfield, now FSW. In 1991, she received the Woodfield Award in recognition of leadership, volunteer service and longtime commitment. In 2006, she became a Life Time Trustee of FSW.

She was also a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fairfield, as well as a member of the Black Rock Yacht Club and Brooklawn Country Club for almost 60 years, where she enjoyed playing duplicate bridge.

Survivors include her daughters, Matilda Maassen, and Anna Clark and her husband, David; five grandchildren, Kirk Maassen and his wife, Anne, Christian Maassen and his wife, Rae Fletcher, Erik Maassen and his wife, Jennifer, Rebecca Clark and her husband, Daniel Long, and Kendal Engleman and her husband Peter; 13 great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and the Jensen family.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 22 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 661 Old Post Road. Memorial contributions may be made to FSW, 475 Clinton Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06605, or to St. Paul's Church.
