Men allegedly stole ‘large quantities’ of cash from ATM

FAIRFIELD — Two men are in custody after their appearance at an ATM on Black Rock Turnpike Nov. 8 raised suspicions.

Around noon, police received a report two men, dressed in dark clothing and wearing hats with low brims and sunglasses, seemed to “hiding their faces” while using the ATM at Patriot National Bank, 1755 Black Rock Turnpike.

The pair was located on Black Rock Turnpike near Stillson Road, and according to police, they had a large sum of cash, as well as fraudulent Green Dot Visa cards that were used to withdraw “large quantities” of cash from the ATM.

Police said Yuri Hamlet, 23, and Roman Shliakis, 21, were both charged with third-degree larceny, fraudulent use of an ATM, six counts of credit card theft, six counts of identity theft, six counts of second-degree forgery, and conspiracy.

Hamlet lives on Rennell Street in Bridgeport, while Shliakis is from Manhattan, N.Y. Information on their bonds was not available but the two are scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport Nov. 20.
