FAIRFIELD — A Meriden man was arrested on a warrant Tuesday morning for allegedly cashing a forged check from a Fairfield restaurant.
Jason Jones, 24, of Fawn Drive, was charged with second-degree forgery and fifth-degree larceny.
In January, police received a report from Crave, 52 Sanford St., that $8,500 worth of fraudulent and forged payroll checks had been cashed in December 2016 at Wells Fargo bank branches.
Jones was seen on surveillance video cashing one of those checks for $920. All of the forged checks were under $1,000, and were cashed by 10 different individuals on Dec. 29.
Jones turned himself in at police headquarters and was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport Dec. 12.
