The annual midsummer celebrations at the Scandinavian Club will feature a June 21 concert of Swedish music.

Roger Hinchliffe and the Swedish Accents will be the featured performers for the event, set for 7 p.m. in the club, 1351 South Pine Creek Road.

Hinchliffe sings, in English, popular songs from Sweden, including works by Carl Michael Bellman, Evert Taube, Povel Ramel, Olle Adolphson and others.

He will be accompanied by the Swedish Accents, guitarist Claes Dyberg and guitarist/pianist Svante Engblom.

Hinchliffe, a resident of Portland, Maine, lived in Stockholm for 28 years, collecting, translating, performing and recording in English a library of Swedish music. He has recorded two CDs, "Sweden's Greatest" and "Swedes on Love," which are available both in the U.S. and Scandinavia.

Dyberg and Engblom are both from Stockholm, and both are proficient performers on guitar and a range of other musical instruments.

Tickets to the concert, which also will include refreshments, cost $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Call the Scandinavian Club at 203-259-1571.
