Motor vehicle thefts reported at Fairfield restaurant
In less than an hour's time Saturday at the Bear & Grill restaurant on Black Rock Turnpike, two thefts from motor vehicles were reported.
The first incident, reported just before 10 p.m., saw a front-passenger window smashed and a purse stolen from a front seat. The purse had been covered with a coat. One of the credit cards in the purse was used a short time later in Bridgeport, according to police.
The second incident, reported around 10:45 p.m., resulted in the theft of a locked cash box from the cargo area. A rear-passenger window was smashed to gain entry. The cash box contained 80 credit card slips from a continuing education seminar.
The vehicle had been parked in the lot since 8:30 p.m. the night before, according to police.
