Muriel Sussman, 86, of Fairfield and Pompano Beach, Fla., died Aug. 18.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Cecelia Shewitz, and had been a longtime member of Congregation B'nai Israel. She was a past president of Women's American O.R.T., a volunteer at the Jewish Home for the Elderly, and a devoted homemaker for her loving family.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Sussman; her children, Eden Diamond and her husband Howard of Fairfield, and Jed Sussman and his wife Kelly of Pleasanton, Calif.; a sister, Eleanor Gutbezahl of Levittown, Pa.; her grandchildren, Tyler Sussman, Spencer Sussman, Kyle Diamond and his wife Kimberly, Courtney Goodale and her husband Alan; great-grandchildren, Braden, Chase and Michaela, and several nieces and nephews.
Services took place Sunday, Aug. 21, in Loyalty Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Read To Grow in Branford, CT. (www.readtogrow.org) or to the American Diabetes Association. The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home handled arrangements.
