A designer house tour in Fairfield and Westport raised $83,000 and was attended by close to 900 people.

"We're incredibly proud of this year's house tour as it marks an important fundraiser to help Near & Far Aid's commitment to ending the cycle of poverty in Fairfield County," Bitsy Higgins, of Westport, president of Near & Far Aid, the all-volunteer organization that hosted the tour, said in a release.

The May 2 tour, showcasing homes in Fairfield, Southport and Westport, started off with a pre-tour breakfast at the Patterson Club and ended with the Toast the Tour reception at the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport. The money raised at the event is used for grants Near & Far Aid awards to organizations and agencies that work to end the cycle of homelessness and other needs in Fairfield County.
