The New Haven Symphony Orchestra will perform the Christmas portion of Handel's masterpiece, "Messiah," 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in Sacred Heart University's Chapel of the Holy Spirit, 5151 Park Ave.

The piece, chronicling the life and death of Jesus Christ, will be carried out under the direction of conductor William Boughton. Special guests will include The Cathedral of Saint Joseph Schola Cantorum, conducted by Dr. Jeffrey Douma and directed by Dr. Ezequiel Menendez.
