FAIRFIELD — It was all pretty silly, but that’s how the evening at the Fairfield Museum and History Center was supposed to unfold.

Last Friday was April 1 — April Fools Day — and the museum hosted its first family-friendly celebration of foolishness to mark the occasion.

The event featured a range of diversions, including facepainting, craftmaking, a scavenger hunt, joke telling, stories and a magician.

Adding to the fun was food, fresh-popped popcorn, burgers and salad from bGood Restaurant, lemonade from Newman’s Own and frozen custard from Shake Shack.

Museum staff dressed in costumes for the evening, while docents and members of the Town Youth Council guided activities.
