Official: Woman hit with bat during Bridgeport street fight

BRIDGEPORT — A woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries when she was allegedly attacked with a bat during a street fight Wednesday night, a city official said.

There were multiple 911 calls about a large street fight in progress shortly before 10 p.m. in the area of Highland and Washington avenues, near the Greene Homes housing complex.

While officers were en route, St. Vincent’s Medical Center alerted police that a woman showed up for treatment at the emergency department, according to Scott Appleby, the city’s director of emergency communications and emergency management.

Appleby said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being hit with a bat during the street fight. He said the victim’s vehicle was also hit several times.

Police continue to investigate.
