Chipotle Mexican Grill, a restaurant chain with 1,100 outlets nationwide, will open its second Fairfield County location Wednesday, Nov. 16, next to the new Whole Foods Market in the new Kings Crossing Shopping Center, 340 Grasmere Ave. The restaurant, which will offer burritos, tacos and salads, will have 44 seats in its dining room and eight seats on its patio and offer fax and on-line order pick up. The 2,275-square-foot eatery will employ 25 to 30 workers.

The chain, founded in 1993 by Steve Ells, uses "responsibly and sustainably farmed ingredients" as part of its "Food With Integrity" philosophy, according to a release from the Denver, Colo.-based company. Meals cost an average of about $7, the company said.

The company has incorporated the principles of sustainable architecture in all new building projects since 2001 and included many of those elements in existing Chipotles, the company said. There are four certified green Chipotles in Austin, Texas, and the company worked with the U.S. Green Building Council to build Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Chipotles in Gurnee, Ill., Minnetonka, Minn., and Deer Park, N.Y.

Chipotle's hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The Fairfield restaurant's phone number will be 203-255-7665.
