FAIRFIELD — “The Best Book Sale in New England” starts Friday, July 22 and it is right in your backyard.

Over 140,000 books, CDs, DVDs, records will be up for sale at the 56th Annual Pequot Library Book Sale. The sale, which runs through Tuesday, July 26, is free and open to the public and all sale proceeds directly fund Pequot Library's over 750 annual programs and events.

The book sale opens at 9 a.m. Friday, July 22 with the ceremonial cannon fired by Charles Mallory of the Delamar Southport.

The sale is open the following hours and times: Friday, July 22 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., double the marked price; Saturday, July 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., all items priced as marked; Sunday, July 24 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., priced as marked; Monday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., half the marked price; and Tuesday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and there is $5 per bag sale on this final day.

The Pequot Library is located off Exit 19 off I-95 south to 720 Pequot Ave, Southport.
