NORWALK — Police are investigating after a “perfectly healthy” maple tree was found cut down in a park Tuesday, the city said.

The city announced in a social media post Tuesday afternoon that the tree was found cut down in Mill Pond Park. The tree also knocked over a garbage can, scattering litter across the park.

City officials did not shed further light on the situation, other than to urge anyone with information to contact the police department.

Police did not immediately respond to a request for further information on the incident Tuesday night.
