Police: Fairfield woman under the influence during crash
FAIRFIELD — A town resident was allegedly under the influence when she swerved into a pole on Coventry Lane.
Police said officers responded to the Dec. 14 crash and found the car damaged and air bags deployed, but no one had been injured. The driver, Julia Volpacchio, showed signs she was under the influence, and officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from her vehicle, according to police.
The 20-year-old resident of Coventry Lane in Fairfield failed a field sobriety test, and materials found in her car were tested and identified as marijuana, police said. She was charged with operating under the influence.
Volpacchio was released on a $100 bond ahead of a Dec. 27 court date.
