Police: Teen charged with DUI after driving wrong way, crashing into tree
FAIRFIELD — Jack Caserta, a 19-year-old Fairfield resident, was charged with driving under the influence after driving the wrong way and later crashing into a tree, police said.
On Dec. 28 at 12:55 a.m., officers observed a white SUV drive in the wrong direction down Miller Street before heading south on Mill Plain Road at a high rate of speed. Officers caught up to the white SUV after Caserta allegedly crashed it into a tree on Burr Street.
Caserta, who was not injured, fled the scene but was found hiding in the bushes on the same street once a police perimeter was set up, police said.
Caserta was charged with DUI, evading, disobeying and interfering with police. He was released on $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 14.
