Maureen Ryan, 47, of Bridgeport, was charged with driving under the influence about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday after she reportedly was seen by another driver striking a curb on the Post Road near Starbucks and weaving into oncoming traffic.

An officer subsequently found Ryan and pulled her over in the vicinity of Belmont Street. When she was asked for her driver's license and registration, Ryan allegedly put her vehicle in reverse. The officer was forced to reach in and turn the car off to prevent it from slamming into the police cruiser.

Ryan, whose eyes were bloodshot, police said, failed a field sobriety testing.

Released on $100 bond, Ryan is scheduled to appear April 12 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
