FAIRFIELD — Police said a Bridgeport man who was weaving in and out of traffic on his moped Wednesday night was intoxicated.

Adil Koummal, 32, was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to drive right and operating under suspension.

Around 7:30 p.m., police received calls about a reckless moped operator on the Post Road who was driving eastbound in the westbound lane. When an officer caught up with Koummal, he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and failed field sobriety tests. He allegedly admitted to having two shots of tequila.

According to police, Koummal’s criminal history incudes a previous DUI arrest and an arrest for first-degree arson.

Koummal posted a $100 bond and was released to his mother’s custody. He is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport on June 12.
