Earlier this year, Jeff Serlin, CEO of Bridgeport-based Serlin International Limousine, established Red Dot taxi cab service in Fairfield. In a few weeks, he plans to move his entire operation to town.

"It's like I'm coming home," the Fairfield resident said.

Serlin International Limousine offers leased sedans, stretch limousines, SUVs, vans and mini-buses for local, national and international travel. Red Dot Airport Shuttle provides rides to and from LaGuardia and JFK airports from throughout Fairfield, New Haven and Westchester, N.Y., counties.

All of the Red Dot vehicles, including the cabs that service the town, are based at Serlin's Bridgeport headquarters. Last month, however, Serlin closed a deal to move his headquarters to Fairfield at 569 Commerce Drive, a 12,000-square-foot, two-story building near BJ's Wholesale Club on lower Black Rock Turnpike. The property was previously occupied by Interstate Battery and Bodvin Inc. Imported Hungarian Wines.

The Red Dot facility will include a state-of-the-art dispatch center, bays for 20 cars, and a car-wash system, Serlin said. The new site is approximately four times the size of Serlin's current facility on State Street in Bridgeport.

"We needed the room and Fairfield is the right environment for us," Serlin said. "We found a large enough property to accommodate us and handle our needs, and we're closer to our corporate core of business in lower Fairfield County."

Workers have gutted the building and are giving it what Serlin calls a retro New York City loft look.

"I want to give my employees, most of whom have been with me for 10 years or more, the best work environment possible, equaling that of any corporate setting," he said.

Serlin International Limousine has about 100 employees, 80 of whom are drivers.
