Piotr A. Karpiel, 52, of Church Hill Road, was issued a misdemeanor summons for holding an open container of alcohol while driving.
Police stopped Karpiel around 6 p.m. last Friday after they saw Karpiel take a drink out of what looked to a beer bottle. When he stopped his car, police said he made a "furtive move" toward the back seat. The officer told Karpiel it looked as though he was drinking a bottle of Corona and Karpiel allegedly replied, "It was a Bud Lite Lime," and that he had had consumed two beers while driving.
Karpiel passed field sobriety tests, police said, but on the advice of police, his son came to drive his car home.
He was released on a promise to appear Oct. 9 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
