A Stratford man was charged on a warrant Friday with a bias crime.
Aydin Cure, 48, of Main Street, Stratford, assaulted a co-worker at Cinzano's Restaurant, 1920 Black Rock Turnpike, in February, and harassed the co-worker about his sexual orientation, calling him derogatory names and making obscene gestures, police said.
The victim said Cure threw a metal object at him while in the restaurant's kitchen on Feb. 5, hitting him in the chest and causing a cut, according to the report.
Cure was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree intimidation based on bigotry or bias and breach of peace. He was held on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear March 31 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
Police said during the investigation, they tried unsuccessfully to interview both the restaurant owner and manager, and were unable to get a copy of security video because it was not recording properly.
