The author of a book about Bridgeport's Ritz Ballroom will talk about the book on Saturday morning, Oct. 6, at the Fairfield Woods branch of the Fairfield Public Library.

The talk by Jeffrey C. Williams is planned at 11 a.m. at the branch, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road.

"Home of Happy Dancers-The Story of Bridgeport, Connecticut's Ritz Ballroom" traces the history of the former Black Rock dance palace, from the Roaring '20s to the early Rock `n' Roll '60s, the library said.

The program is free and open to the public, but advance reservations are required due to limited space, the library said.

The Ritz hosted many stars of the Big Band Era, the library said, including Frank Sinatra, pianist George Shearing, Guy Lombardo and Les Brown. Williams is a Big Band enthusiast and has hosted the radio shows "Ritz Ballroom Hour" on WICC-AM and "At the Ritz" on Fairfield University's WVOF-FM.
