Robert A. Eberle

Robert A. Eberle, 77, of Naples, Fla., and Southport, died Aug. 13.

Born Feb. 3, 1934, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Charles and Antionette (Shields) Eberle. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and pursued graduate studies at Carnegie Mellon, Columbia and NYU. He was a first lieutenant in the Air Force in Japan during the early 1950s.

He held various jobs in executive management development and training over 27 years with IBM. He was a founding faculty senior member of the IBM Global Executive Development Center in La Hulpe, Belgium. He was also an adjunct professor in the MBA program at Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y., and became a full-time professor after his retirement from IBM. He was also a life-long tennis player and was an avid reader.

Survivors include his companion, Diane Montague Kane; three sons and their families, Robert and Kathleen Eberle, Nicole and Michael; Peter and Jeannie Eberle, Rostik, Katusha and Lilya, and John and Samantha Eberle, Cameron.

A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, Aug. 25, from 2 to 6 p.m., in the Southport Woods Clubhouse. To place online condolences, visit
