A "Safe Walk" for senior citizens will take place Tuesday on the campus of Fairfield University.

The free event, set for 9 to 11 a.m., is open to any older adults interested in a little exercise and some crime-prevention information. Sponsored by the Fairfield Police Department and People's United Bank, the walk starts at the university's Quick Center for the Arts.

Interim First Selectman Michael Tetreau, Thomas Betzig of People's United Bank and Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara will join seniors on the half-mile walk, which will circle around the campus fountain and end at the library. Following the walk, MacNamara will provide crime-prevention tips in the Walsh Art Gallery at the Quick Center.

There will also be an art exhibit in the gallery by two local artists, including Fairfield Police Officer Jay Valle.

Light refreshments will be served.

Registration is not required. Call Sgt. Sue Lussier, public information officer, at 203-254-4829 for information.
