Safety Street's return a sweet treat for Halloween trickstersPublished
After a two-year absence, Trick or Treat on Safety Street scared up Halloween fun downtown Friday, this time under the auspices of the Kiwanis Club.
At the 3 p.m. "witching hour," downtown sidewalks and Sherman Green were overtaken by a cadre of characters ranging from the sweet to macabre, collecting candy from store owners and local civic groups.
At the Kiwanis Club table, where Town Clerk Betsy Browne was decked out as the evil Cruella DeVille, a photo of Glenn Barnhard was on display. Barnhard, who had led the committee that planned the return of Safety Street this year, had passed away suddenly last week.
