Sand was flying everywhere Friday evening as a crowd grooved to the music at Jennings Beach.

It was the Parks and Recreation Department’s first Sand Jam dance party of the summer. Disc jockey Marvin Parsons delivered the beats from his portable soundboard, while emcee Paul Herman, standing atop a picnic table, energized the fun.

The Double Up Dance Studio dancers of Fairfield were also on hand, leading the crowd in dance moves.

The jam was the first part of the evening though as Parks and Rec Program Director Ginna Paules busied herself setting up a projector to show the film “Paddington” on a large inflatable screen. The movie portion of the evening is known as “Starlight Starbright” as the screening starts at sunset when a blanket of stars spreads across the sky and families settle into beach chairs to enjoy picnic dinners and the show.
