Senior center offers free program on alternatives to driving

The Fairfield Senior Center will sponsor two information sessions on transportation that is available to seniors and the disabled as alternatives to driving. Both sessions are free at the senior center, 100 Mona Terrace.
A daytime session is scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m., the center said. An evening session is scheduled Thursday, Oct. 30, at 6:30.
Registration is required by calling the center at 203-256-3166.
At each session, three presentations will be will be made on alternatives to driving:
The senior center's own shuttle service, which it said has minimal cost
Independent Transportation Network, commonly called INT, which provides both scheduled and on-demand rides around the clock for an average fee of $11, the center said. Passengers establish accounts with the service, and no cash changes hands for individual rides.
Other transportation services outlined in the guidebook "How to Go" will be discussed. The book covers services between Stratford and Greenwich for seniors, the disabled and veterans and free copies will be available.
