St. Catherine Academy will host its fifth annual Duckie Derby fundraiser at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, along Mill River across the street from St. Pius Church, 834 Brookside Drive. Attendees may park in the church parking lot.

More than 1,000 rubber ducks will float down the river about 150 yards to the finish line. The event will also include the Duckie decorating contest, games, food and duck mascots. Trophies and prize ribbons will be awarded for the Decorate-Me and winning race ducks. Participants may buy ducks in advance or upon arrival before the release at 1:30 p.m. A $10 donation will buy a numbered duck in the race; $15 will buy a large Decorate-Me Duck to be decorated before the race for the contest.

Ducks are available at Bank of Fairfield, Whole Foods Market and at the academy, 760 Tahmore Drive.

Proceeds from the rain-or-shine event will go to the school.
