Based on early weather forecasts, school and town officials closed public and private school in Fairfield and Easton Tuesday. . Libraries and other public facilities were also closed for the day.

The snow on Tuesday morning and afternoon affected several people in Fairfielf. As of 2:30 p.m., Fairfield police responded to six multiple vehicle collisions and three calls for assistance due to the snowy weather.

"The calls were to assist people stuck in the snow or unable to make it up a hill," Capt. Robert Kalamaras said.

Fairfield police were warning residents to stay home and avoid the roads.

"The roads are very slick and we strongly recommend if you do not need to go on the road to stay home," Kalamaras said.
