Students' homes at beach burglarized
Two homes on Fairfield Beach Road rented by college students were hit by thieves between Thursday and Friday, according to police.
Stolen from one residence was a laptop computer valued at $1,500. Taken from the other home was an XBox game system, a Playstation 3 game system, a video game and two game controls.
Entry to the home where the laptop was taken was made through an unlocked sliding door. A resident heard a noise around 3:30 a.m. Thursday and called out. But seeing the sliding door was closed, did not realize anything had been swiped until 10 hours later. The other burglary took place while the home's occupants were at the library. Entry was made through a small window at the rear of the house, police said.
