FAIRFIELD — Volunteers from the town’s Bigelow Center for Senior Services are surveying local stores and businesses about whether they offer discounts to senior citizens.

The survey, according to the senior center, will be gathering information about the amount of senior discounts available; what products or services are included; the specific dates or times discounts may be offered; the age-eligibility for senior discounts, whether identification is required to prove the customer is eligible.

Once the data-gathering is complete, the Bigelow Center plans to compile that information for its 2,700 members.

Center officials say the project is not a solicitation for advertising, but the volunteers are only collecting information on what existing senior discounts are available in town.

Anyone with questions about the discount survey should call 203-256-3166, including business owners not visited by survey volunteers but wish to be included in the data.
