Suspect in custody, another at large after theft from Kohl’s
FAIRFIELD — One suspect is in custody and another is still at large following a theft from a local retail store, police said.
Police responded to reports of two individuals attempting to shoplift from the Kohl’s Department Store at 290 Tunxis Hill Road around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
At the store, police learned that store employees had managed to apprehend one of the suspects, 29-year-old Alexia Morales.
The second suspect — whom police described as a light-skinned Hispanic male in his 30s with a beard — had managed to escape the store with approximately $666-worth of merchandise.
Police said the man was wearing a winter hat and jacket, and he had fled the scene in the passenger side of a black sedan, which was waiting for him outside of the store.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department 203-254-4808, or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES (274637).
Morales was charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny. She was released on a $1,000 bond, and she was given a court date of Feb. 16.
