The calendar might say Saturday, June 21, is the first day of summer, but it will be mid-summer on South Pine Creek Road.

The Scandinavian Club has planned its annual Swedish Mid-Summer Fest on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. at its 1351 South Pine Creek Road grounds.

The event is free and open to the public and will feature games for children and traditional Swedish songs accompanied by accordionist Wivan Sundman, the club said.

Hot dogs and beverages will be sold and a baked goods sale is planned, but attendees may bring their own picnics, the club said. A traditional May pole dance is planned, and the club urged attendees to bring handfuls of flowers for the pole.

There is no rain date. If weather is questionable, the status of the fest will be posted on the club's website,
