Teen faces charges after fracas with mom over groceries
A 14-year-old Fairfield boy was charged Friday evening with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and second-degree threatening after he allegedly fought with his mother while putting away groceries in their home.
Police said the mother was displeased with the way her son kept cramming frozen foods in the freezer and slamming the door when the food could not be accommodated. The boy shoved his mother to the floor and threatened her during the altercation about 6:14 p.m. Friday in the Shady Hill Road home.
The boy, who was not identified by police because he is considered a juvenile under state law, was released on a promise to appear May 27 in Juvenile Court. He was then taken to a hospital to be evaluated, police said.
